Frisco unscented dog waste bags? This is a cat blog, right? Well, we wanted to test them out and see if cat owners could appreciate them.

My cats use the litter box a lot. I find myself hoarding plastic grocery bags like they’re some sort of apocalyptic currency. I have grown weary of sneaking ‘extra bags’ from the self-checkout in Walmart. As a cat parent, I felt it was time to find something more permanent.

Can Cat Owners Use Dog Waste Bags Too?

This is the question I set out to answer. Frisco Unscented Dog Waste Bags come in a generous 300 count bag. They measure 9″x13″, so I figured that was big enough. After all, cat poop is smaller than dog poop most of the time. Unfortunately, things didn’t work out quite as planned.

Size Matters

The measurements for Frisco Unscented Dog Waste Bags might sound huge by waste bag standards, but not in a cat owner’s case. Litter scoops don’t fit inside the mouth of the bag; this means you’ll have to ‘drop’ the litter in. This can be quite challenging.

Frisco waste bags’ intended use is to act as a glove while you pick up your dog’s poop. After you’ve got a hold of it, you flip the bag inside out, trapping the poop inside without ever having to touch it. If my cats’ poop was laying on the carpet, this would be no problem. However, I’m not diving my hand into a bunch of cat litter.

The Box Debacle

Frisco Unscented Dog Waste Bags come in a rectangular box similar to those used for tinfoil or cling wrap, minus the ‘teeth’ on the edge of the box. The opening is narrow, and it was incredibly difficult to get a grip on a single bag. You cannot turn the roll so that the edge of the new bag is facing the opening; it won’t budge.

If I were a dog owner with an impatient dog wanting to go for “walkies”, I don’t think I’d want to spend five minutes trying to get a bag. Being a cat owner, this concept is equally unappealing for when I go to scoop litter boxes.

Frisco Unscented Dog Waste Bags Have Their Good Points

Given that the only thing I can truly complain about is how difficult the bags are to get out of the box, I’d say this product still wins some awards.

The Price Is Nice

The waste bags I got at Target were around $17 for a 180 count. Yikes! Frisco Unscented Dog Waste Bags are only $8.49 from Chewy, and you get a whopping 300 bags. Frisco’s bag size is also way bigger than the pathetically thin waste bags from Target.

You get a lot of bang for your buck with Frisco’s waste bags. They’re much thicker than other waste bags, which I’m sure dog owners appreciate. Nobody likes getting dog turds on their hands because their waste bag leaked. Ew. I like knowing that, should I be dexterous enough to get the cat poop in the bag, it won’t come back out.

The Final Verdict

I give these bags a solid 4 out of 5 meows. Although I would like to see cat-specific waste bags in the future, I know that dog owners will appreciate Frisco’s quality products. The price is right, and the leak-proof bags make sure you don’t get your hands dirty when your dog does his business.
