Cool Cat Collars is a company in the UK that sells the most adorable cat collars you’ve ever seen!
Okay, so, funny story… we were shopping around for new cat collars for Misha and Tippy. The cheap versions from Target were getting worn out after only a few months of use.
Just a couple of days before we were about to head into town to buy some more, we were contacted by Cool Cat Collars UK.
After checking out their website and product line of cat collars, we were psyched to do a review!
This is a sponsored post. In exchange for an honest review of Cool Cat Collars’ cat products, we received the collars pictured as a free gift. No other compensation was received, and this post contains no affiliate links. The views contained in this product review are our own.
The Meow Place Grading Scale For Cat Collars
We’ll be grading Cool Cat Collars’ collars on these points:
- Fit
- Design
- Durability
- Safety
- Price
We’d like to stress again that all of the views in this post are our own, and we’re being totally honest. We wouldn’t tell you a product was awesome if it wasn’t. We owe you honesty when it comes to how you spend your hard-earned cash.
Alright – back to it!
Fit
The collars we received were the blue Dinky Dots (kitten), green woven check gingham, and Cadbury purple double velvet designs.
We were pleasantly surprised by the Dinky Dots kitten collar. I had been the one to pick it out, and I worried that it might not fit either cat. Still, Misha’s neck is really skinny, so we took a gamble on it. It fits just fine!
The kitten collars can be expanded up to an 8-inch circumference (that’s not including the buckle), which will fit most small adult cats. It even fits Tippy! There’s not much slippage going on when either cat is wearing them; we haven’t had to readjust them due to any faults in the collar’s design.
The adult collars work equally well, but they obviously don’t have as wide of a fit range as the kitten collar.
Design
Cool Cat Collars UK has expanded the number of designs since we’ve received our collars, but we were already impressed by the wide variety of choices that they had. There’s even a Batman collar (I’m a huuuuge Batman fan)!
We chose the designs that we did based on what looks best on each cat. Tippy definitely favors yellows and greens, and Misha’s feminine features lean her towards blues and purples. Neither one looks good in pink… sorry.
Here’s a side-by-side comparison of each collar. Who do you think wore it better?
Durability
If you had seen how bad Tippy’s old collar was, how frayed and stringy the cloth material became, you would understand why durability is a big issue for us. Thankfully, Cool Cat Collars UK uses quality materials that are both inexpensive and durable.
The base of the velvet cat collar has webbing to keep the fibers together while allowing for some stretch. The Dinky Dots and green gingham collars also use webbing, but the material on the surface is a woven fabric.
Both are fairly tough. Neither cat has been able to tear the collars from scratching, and we’ve had them for over a month. There are no marks on the buckle either.
Safety
As with most standard cat collars, Cool Cat Collars’ products come with a breakaway design. This is an important feature because if a cat’s collar gets snagged on something and they begin to choke, the collar will unclasp and release the cat.
Tippy and Misha’s previous collars used a breakaway clasp, but it was shaped like a circle and didn’t include any release mechanism for when I wanted to take their collar off. I literally had to yank on it until it released.
These collars from Cool Cat Collars UK have a forked design where you can squeeze the sides of the buckle to release. It’s SO much easier, and I honestly hate having to struggle with switching collars. I was constantly afraid that I’d end up hurting them because I had to yank on the collar so hard.
Although this isn’t a safety feature, the collar also has a highly audible bell on it. Not even Misha can totally sneak past me when it’s jingling. The only downside is that it can get annoying when they’re running around. At least we always know where they are!
Price
It’s time to talk about price. If you want the cheapest thing around and you live in the US, Cool Cat Collars UK is not for you. However, we’re more than willing to pay international shipping for the quality we got.
The most expensive price you’ll have to pay for a cat collar is £17.95 ($22.35), and there are only two listed for that much (they’re both designer collars – one has Swarovski crystals). On the other end of the spectrum, there are cat collars for as low as £6.99 ($8.70).
International shipping isn’t going to be hugely expensive. Shipping outside of Europe is listed for $5.60, bringing the cheapest total up to only $14.30. That may seem like a lot to pay for one collar, but keep in mind that not only can you order multiple collars and get the same shipping charge, but they will last you a lot longer than the cheaper versions.
Cool Cat Collars UK: The Final Verdict
There’s no need to go over how each factor scored: they all get five out of five! The only thing we didn’t like was how loud the bells were, and that didn’t effect the final verdict because they’re removable. Any difficulty placing ID tags on these collars is a defect of the tag design, not the collar.
Once again, the opinions listed here are entirely our own, and I can’t recommend Cool Cat Collars UK’s customer service enough. Misha and Tippy are looking stylish, and we’ll be enjoying these cat collars for many months to come! Check out Cool Cat Collars UK’s entire collection of cat products here.
Very stylish collars!
I just love them. They’re very comfortable for Misha and Tippy, and I have officially confirmed that the safety clasp works! Tippy got caught the other day, and it came off just fine. 🙂 I highly recommend the velvet ones!
